Clubmark

Heswall LTC receives Clubmark award.

Last month Heswall LTC secured the prestigious Clubmark award, which ensures its place in the top tennis clubs in the country.
The award is a kite mark of quality for all UK sports clubs instigated by Sport England in collaboration with individual sports’ National Governing Bodies - in the case of tennis, the Lawn Tennis Association. It is designed to reassure the current membership and prospective members that the club operates within strict guidelines of safety and equality, and demonstrates a pro-active approach to encouraging sport within the community.
To gain the award the club has had to show the following:
· its coaches are fully licensed and insured
· it operates a full programme of coaching for juniors and seniors throughout the year
· it has opened up links with local schools
· it has a full competition programme
· it has a recognised process of talent identification
· it has policies which recognise open membership and equality of opportunity for all
· it has strict guidelines for child protection
· it implements safety checks and has guidelines for dealing with accidents
· it regulates and vets all volunteers
· it informs its members regularly and has a process of suggestions and recommendations
· it continues to seek improvement with a full and vibrant action plan
Many of the policies can be accessed via the website or can be seen on display in the clubhouse.
Gaining the award also means that the club is in a position to seek extra funding if necessary.
Being a Clubmark club again puts Heswall LTC at the forefront of tennis in Cheshire and is another example of how the club is constantly seeking to improve and develop.
