During this year the club have supported the Kidney Appeal, British Heart
Foundation , McMillan Nurses and St John's Hospice. Your president Roger
Hughes is delighted that the club has been able to support all these deserving
charities
For the last six years Mrs Jo Banks has organised at the Club a tournament
and coffee morning which is supported by Barclays Bank, this year the Kidney
research organisation received a cheque for £2,500.00.
A tournament for the British Heart Foundation (http://www.bhf.org.uk/)
incorporating the name of Keith Wells a past member raised £200.00.
The MACMILLAN nurses coffee morning (http://www.macmillan.org.uk/)
organised by Kate Steer donated £200.00
The final charity was the Raquets Ball organised by Denise Penketh; Heswall
LTC was supported by the Squash Club & Hoylake tennis club and a cheque
for £778.00 was sent off to St John's Hospice (http://www.stjohnshospice.org/).
We also support the Keiskamma Trust (http://www.keiskamma.org/) through our website.
Merseyside Kidney Research Tournament
Held in glorious sunshine on Friday 15th September. Meticulously organised as
usual by Jo Banks and squad of volunteers from HLTC. Over 30 players with representatives
from most clubs on the Wirral. After the tennis an excellent Buffet Lunch, Raffle
and Auction raising over £2400 (including a donation for our old piano!).
Big Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Appeal
Friday 29th September. Over 40 people attended. Several tennis players turning
a hand to scone baking. The groundsman, John Bogin, baked an excellent Victoria
Sponge! Another Raffle. The sum of £296 raised.
Heswall Racquets Dinner Dance
Friday 6th October. Attended by over 150 people including members of Heswall
Squash Club and Hoylake Tennis Club. An excellent evening including another
Raffle which raised £770! This time in aid of St John's Hospice.
